Darron Honey Centre Art Exhibition – June 2014

Exhibition Times:

  • Saturday 7 June   – 1pm to 4pm
  • Sunday 8 June – 1pm to 4pm
  • Monday 9 June – 11am to 4pm

This Exhibition provides an opportunity to view and purchase a diverse range of art works created by members of the Mount Evelyn and Yarra Valley Art Society. The artists include many of the leading artists of the Yarra Valley area. Entry is free, so the Exhibition is a great way to learn more about the work of the many dedicated artists from the local community.

As all works at the Exhibition are “For Sale”, this may be just the chance you’ve been looking for to purchase original art at very reasonable prices.

Meeting June 2014

Date – Sunday 1 June 2014
Time – 1:30pm to 4:00 pm
Demonstration – This month’s demonstration will be given by Bryan Fitzgerald, a local artist. Bryan will be working with water colour techniques.

Bryan is an award winning artist, with prizes for Works on Paper at the Roberts McCubbin Art Show, Charlton Art Exhibition and others.

Bryan works as a professional artist, specialising in watercolours and acrylics, painting a broad range of subject matter. He also teaches painting and drawing to adults at Arts on Burgundy, Heidelberg, Victoria. He has exhibited at numerous Art Exhibitions, including the Knox Art Show and the Camberwell Art Show. Some of his works are also on display on Gallery 247.

Bryan will also judge the competition, so if you would like a constructive commentary on your paintings, make sure you are there and enter one of your works in the competition.

40th Knox Art Show

The Rotary Club of Bayswater is holding the 40th Annual Knox Art Show on 29th and 30th March 2014 at the Knox Community Art Centre, Corner of Scoresby Road and Mountain Highway, Bayswater. The Show is open to all artists wishing to enter their original work and will offer prizes in the following categories:

Best Oil/Acrylic $1,250
Best Water Colour / Work on Paper $1,250
Best Pastel $1,250
Best Painting (All Mediums) Value: $501- $1,000 $400
Best Painting Value: Up to $500 $300
Best Photograph $250
Best Photograph – local City of Knox Scene $150

All Awardees will also receive Certificates

This outstanding exhibition is one of the premier art shows in Melbourne and attracts artists from all over Australia. Typically, over 400 works of art are exhibited.

All proceeds from the Exhibition go towards assisting people in need. This year, one of the major beneficiaries will be the Eastern Ranges School (Autism Spectrum Disorder), which focuses on the education of P-12 students with various forms of autism.

Demonstration – As this meeting includes the Annual General Meeting, there will be no demonstration.

However, Maureen King will judge the members-only competitions, and provide feedback on the works exhibited.

Wanted – 2014 Demonstrators

Wanting to promote your art work and gain more confidence?

We are a small, active Art Society in the Yarra Valley looking for demonstrators.

If you are keen to enthuse about your passion and show how you, the Artist, work in your preferred medium, we’d love to hear from you.

It’s an excellent way for you to be out there gaining confidence or just sharing your knowledge with a group of friendly, like-minded people.

Demonstration – The demonstration this month will be given by Leah Williams, who will be working in water colour.

The focus of Leah’s demonstration will be to provide lots of handy tips for beginners, so if water colour is a medium you’d like to understand better, this will be an excellent way to get started.

Leah is a very accomplished artist and an experienced art teacher. She is constantly experimenting to improve her skills and broaden her knowledge. Her wide experience in teaching the various techniques she will demonstrate will undoubtedly be informative.

The demonstration is sure to be of interest to both beginners and experienced artists.

The focus of Karen’s demonstration will be to provide lots of handy tips for beginners, so if mixed media is something you’d like to understand better, this will be an excellent way to get started.

Karen is a very accomplished artist and an experienced member of the Society. Recently, she has been studying to improve her skills and broaden her knowledge. Her wide experience in teaching the various techniques she will demonstrate will undoubtedly be beneficial.

The demonstration is sure to be of interest to both beginners and experienced artists.

Enjoy the Art Show, spoil yourself with some scumptious home-made food or a coffee in the restaurant and finish with a stroll around the beautiful gardens – a delight in Spring. It’s a wonderful, relaxing way to while away the time.
