Demonstration – The demonstrator this month will be Julie Ricketts, who will be demonstrating pastels. Julie is a well-known local artist who has exhibited at many of the art shows in Melbourne, including the Knox Art Show, Camberwell Rotary Art Show and Yarra Glen Art Show. She has been awarded First Prize at a number of these shows.
Julie is a member of A.G.R.A.
Julie was fortunate to be born into the artistic Ricketts family. As a child she spent many hours watching her grandfather paint in the shed out the back when he came to live with the family. She also spent time playing at her uncle William’s sanctuary in the Dandenongs. Later in life this helped her to understand and appreciate his magnificent art works and the message he was trying to convey.
Julie lived in the Dandenongs for many years, before moving to the Yarra Valley in the early 1980’s which is where she now draws most of her inspiration.
We are privileged to have Julie for our demonstration, which will be of interest to members whatever medium they prefer to work in.
