Demonstration – The demonstration this month will be given by Gabriele Pelling. She will demonstrate scratchboard techniques. Scratchboard is a very old art form, and has recently undergone a revival. Gabriele has taken up the challenge and produced some very striking work since she began to learn the techniques.

So if you would like learn more about scratchboard and see how Gabriele uses this medium, make sure you come along.

This will also provide a great opportunity to share ideas and techniques.

March 2015 Paintout

Date – Wednesday 25 March 2015
Venue – Lilydale Lake – Swansea Road, Lilydale (near the former Lilydale Bush Nursing Hospital).
Time – 10:30am
Lilydale Lake offers a wide variety of subjects for the artist from the tranquility of the views across the lake to many and varied bushland scenes – all in a setting with plenty of parking, shelters and walking tracks. The wildlife and many interesting native gardens and smaller waterholes add to the attraction of this beautiful venue.

There is no cafe, so make sure you BYO food and drinks.

Meeting April 2015

Due to when Easter falls this year, the date for our April meeting is a week later than normal.

Demonstration – The demonstrator will be Justin from The Art Shop in Unit 4, 21 Power Road, Bayswater. Justin will do a demonstration in Acrylic and a product demonstration.

As well as its shop front, The Art Shop is one of Australia’s largest on-line art supply stores.

So if you are looking for new ideas or advice on art materials and supplies, this is a great opportunity to come along and find out from a leading expert in the field.

Demonstration – As this is our Annual General Meeting, there will be no demonstration.

However, we will still hold our monthly competition, for which the judge will provide feedback on the entries. So if you would like some constructive comments, please remember to enter one of your works in the competition.

This will also provide a great opportunity to share ideas and techniques.

Wanted – 2015 Demonstrators

Wanting to promote your art work and gain more confidence?

We are a small, active Art Society in the Yarra Valley looking for demonstrators.

If you are keen to enthuse about your passion and show how you, the Artist, work in your preferred medium, we’d love to hear from you.

It’s an excellent way for you to be out there gaining confidence or just sharing your knowledge with a group of friendly, like-minded people.

Demonstration – This month’s demonstration will be given by John Thomas, a local artist from Healesville. John will be showing some of his favourite oil painting techniques. John had to postpone an earlier demonstration due to unforeseen circumstances, so we are fortunate that he has agreed to reschedule his demonstration to this meeting.

John is a member of the Yarra Valley Open Studios network and exhibits extensively at Di King Studios in Healesville.

As part of his demonstration, John will also share some of his thoughts on painting creatively.

John will also judge the competition, so if you would like a constructive commentary on your paintings, make sure you are there and enter one of your works in the competition.

This will be a great opportunity to share ideas and techniques.

Venue – Warratina Lavender Farm – Quayle Road, Wandin (Melways 121 F1).
Time – 10:30am
Warratina Lavender Farm is one of our favourite venues for painting. With beautiful gardens, interesting buildings and stunning views of the ranges of the Yarra Valley, there a plenty of subjects for artists. Shelter is available if it is raining.

While morning tea, coffee and food are available in the cafe, you are also welcome to BYO lunch.

Demonstration – This month’s demonstration will be given by Carolyn Rogers, who will be showing techniques for using Gel Plates for creating printing designs.

This is somewhat of a departure from our usual demonstrations and promises to challenge us to experiment and add some fun to our artwork.
