November 2012 Meeting

Date – Sunday 4 November 2012
Time – 1:30pm
Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Denise Smith, who specialises in wildlife subjects. She mostly works in pastel.

This demonstration is sure to be interesting for artists with all levels of experience, whether or not they have worked with this medium, as it will cover a range of different pastel techniques. Denise is a great demonstrator, so make sure you reserve the date for an informative and enjoyable afternoon.

Warratina Lavender Farm Art Show – 2012

Date – Saturday 13 October to Sunday 21 October 2012

Time – 10:00am to 4:00pm

Location – Warratina Lavender Farm, 105 Quayle Road, Wandin Yallock – Melway Reference 121 F1.

A wide range of paintings by members of the Society will be on display and can be purchased during the event. A selection of unique greeting cards and craft items will also be available to purchase.

The paintings exhibited will include works in various mediums and styles – traditional and contemporary – and some of the artists will be in attendance at various stages during the week.

October 2012 Meeting

Date – Sunday 7 October 2012
Time – 1:30pm
Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Gert Griff, who specialises in portraiture using charcoal and pencil.

This demonstration is sure to be interesting for artists with all levels of experience, whether or not they have worked with these mediums, as it will cover a range of different charcoal and pencil techniques. So make sure you reserve the date for an informative and enjoyable afternoon.

September 2012 Meeting

Date – Sunday 9 September 2012
Time – 1:30pm
Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Luke Adam Sinclair, who specialises in art supplies.

Note that, because of Fathers’ Day, the meeting is on the second Sunday, a week later than normal.

This month’s demonstration is a bit different, as Luke will display a range of art products and explain their uses.

This demonstration is sure to be interesting for artists with all levels of experience, as it will provide up to date information on the pros and cons of various art materials. So make sure you reserve the date for an informative and enjoyable afternoon.

Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Sue McCall, who will demonstrate a range of watercolour techniques.

A well-respected, local artist, Sue exhibits regularly at a number of galleries in the Yarra Valley.

July 2012 Meeting

Date – Sunday 1 July 2012
Time – 1:30pm
Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Amanda Ruck, a local artist, who will demonstrate a range of techniques for working with Acrylic.

Amanda is a highly-qualified and very experienced artist and teacher. She graduated from the Canberra School of Art in 1988 with a Bachelor of Art (Visual) in Printmaking. After teaching Lithography at the School of  Art, she moved to Melbourne. When her focus shifted to landscapes, particularly clouds, she decided to move to the Yarra Valley. Her technique has changed over time, evolving from printmaking, cutting and pasting, using collage, ink, and pastel to her current painting with acrylic on canvas.

This demonstration is sure to be interesting and informative for artists with all levels of experience, so make sure you reserve the date for an enjoyable and educational afternoon.

Darron Honey Centre Exhibition – June

Date: Saturday 9 2012 to Monday 11 June 2012

Venue: Darron Honey Centre – at the rear of the Uniting Church, Maroondah Highway, Healesville (opposite Coles) – Melway Reference 278 C1

Exhibition Times:

  • 9 June   – 1pm to 4pm
  • 10 June – 1pm to 4pm
  • 11 June – 11am to 4pm

This Exhibition provides an opportunity to view and purchase a diverse range of art works created by members of the Mount Evelyn and Yarra Valley Art Society. These include many of the leading artists of the Yarra Valley area. Entry is free, so the Exhibition is a great way to learn more about the work of the many dedicated artists from the local community.

As all works at the Exhibition are “For Sale”, this may be just the chance you’ve been looking for to purchase original art at very reasonable prices.

June 2012 Meeting

Demonstration – The demonstration will be given by Nell Frysteen, who will show a range of techniques for working with Pastel. Nell is a very experienced artist and teacher, her many accomplishments including weekly art classes at the Nell Street Painters Group in Greensborough.
