About the Art Exhibition

Want an enjoyable day in the beautiful Yarra Valley treating yourself to some outstanding local art exhibited in a unique, rural setting? Or perhaps you’re looking to buy an original artwork.

The 2018 Warratina Lavender Farm Art Show is just the place to go..

Enjoy the Art Show, spoil yourself with some delicious home-made food or a coffee in the restaurant and finish with a stroll around the beautiful gardens. Set among rolling hills, it’s a wonderful, relaxing way to take some time out.

A wide range of paintings by members of the Mount Evelyn and Yarra Valley Arts Society will be on display. All works will be available for purchase at very modest prices. A selection of unique greeting cards and craft items will also be available.

The paintings exhibited will include works in various mediums and styles – traditional and contemporary – and some of the artists will be in attendance at various stages during the week to answer your questions.

Visitors are very welcome and entry to view the exhibition is free. So come along and enjoy.

Note: Only members of the Society can enter their work in the exhibition.

October 2018 Meeting

Date – Sunday 7 October 2018

Demonstration – This month, Karen Ricketts will demonstrate some further charcoal techniques.

 It is not often that the Society has a demonstrator who is so skilled with charcoal, so Wendy is sure to provide another interesting demonstration for both beginners and more experienced artists.

September 2018 Meeting

Date – Sunday 9 September 2018

Time – 1:30pm to 4:00 pm

Venue – Coldstream Community Centre, Kelso Street, Coldstream – Melways Map 281 B10

Demonstration – This month, Wendy Havard will demonstrate some further acrylic techniques.

 Wendy is a well-known contemporary artist, who creates vibrant artworks inspired by the Australian landscape and wildlife. She is a former student of Peter Smales, from whom she learned tonal and impressionistic oil techniques.

Wendy is a regular exhibitor in art shows, including the Sherbrooke Art Society and Dandenong Ranges Open Studios.

Wendy is sure to provide another interesting demonstration for both beginners and more experienced artists.

August 2018 Meeting

Date – Sunday 5 August 2018

Demonstration – This month, Kevin Boucher will demonstrate some further oil techniques.

 Kevin is a well-known local artist, who has demonstrated previously at our meetings. He is a regular exhibitor in art shows, including the forthcoming Camberwell Rotary Art Show.

We can be assured of another interesting demonstration for both beginners and more experienced artists.

Healesville Art Exhibition – June 2018

Come and enjoy the art work on exhibition by members of the Society.

There is a great variety of paintings in  oils, pastels, watercolour and other mediums on display – at very reasonable prices.

Visitors will have an opportunity to vote for the Peoples’ Choice Award.

Venue – Darron Honey Centre , at rear of Uniting Church, Maroondah Highway, Healesville.

July 2018 Meeting

Date – Sunday 1 July 2018

Demonstration – This month, Julian Bruere will demonstrate some further watercolour techniques.

 Julian has been highly commended for his watercolour skills, subject matter and generosity as a teacher. He is very passionate about watercolour and his enthusiasm is infectious. He believes that painting water in watercolour requires a different application of painting skills and involves new learning for all of us.

Julian paints his subjects in watercolour with a strong drawing basis. Landscape, City Scenes, Marine and Maritime are his preferred subjects, but he also values the disciplines of Still Life and Portraiture.

This promises to be another interesting demonstration for both beginners and more experienced artists.

June 2018 Meeting

Date – Sunday 3 June 2018

Time – 1:30pm to 4:00 pm

Venue – Coldstream Community Centre, Kelso Street, Coldstream – Melways Map 281 B10

Demonstration – The demonstrator this month will be Malcolm Calder, a botanical artist who will work with watercolour techniques.

Malcolm is a local artist resident in the Yarra Valley and is associated with The Steels Creek Open Studio, a combined group from Steels Creek and the Yarra Glen Living and Learning Centre.

Among other things, Malcolm is one of the founders of the Yarra Glen Arts Show, one of the major community-based art event run every second year. 

The Yarra Glen Arts Show promotes the Yarra Valley and the attractions of Yarra Glen as a friendly and accessible place to visit with an enriched and diverse cultural lifestyle.

With a focus on botanical art, this promises to be another interesting demonstration for both beginners and more experienced artists.
